Day 4 - Dana's House and Hike Up His Mountain

Today most of us slept in after arriving at 2am.  I on the other hand woke up early and took a few photos of the beautiful landscape at Dana's house.  Below is the view from behind Dana's house.

Here is his pond in front of his house.  He has a fire ring near the pond where we had a campfire tonight.

Here is Dana's barn next to his lane.

This is the front of his master bedroom with large windows and a hot tub.  It doesn't get any better than this!

For breakfast the cooks made a big batch of pancakes, eggs, sausage, and bacon.

During the early afternoon, Barry and Matt took off to check on the road leading to the trail head by the Boulder River.  We had heard that the road was not closed, and if that was correct we could hike our original itinery.

While they were gone, Tim and Larry took the boys on a hike up the mountain behind Dana's house.
Here is our faithful leader Tim.

And his trusty side-kick, Larry.

Unfortunately, there were no trails, and the hike was a bit steeper than anticipated!

But don't take my word for it....

However, we did have cell service on top of the mountain, along with some breath-taking views!

As you can see in the below photo, this land is owned by a logging company.  You can see the area that has been harvested for logs in the past and how they have replanted trees as a renewable resource.

Of course, I had to have a memory of a father and son's hard hike up the mountain.

And now for Larry's daily update.
