Day 3 - Horse Thief Lake to Dana's House near Livingston MT

Today we woke up early, broke camp, ate breakfast, and headed to the Ford dealership in Rapid City, South Dakota to see if they could quickly work us in and fix the van.  Unfortunately, they couldn't work us in for 3 days!  So, we headed off to the Interstate area in hopes of finding a truckstop that could help us.  We found a Pilot / Windmill Energy Station and they said they could work us in this morning!

To help pass the time we decided to go to the little restaurant on the property and have another breakfast.  At least it was air conditioned; we discovered that the mountain air had quite a bit less humidity than down here in Rapid City.

They had an interesting way of serving drinks at this restaurant - Ball mason jars!

Most everyone ordered a traditional breakfast item, but Eli had other ideas....a brownie sundae!

Finally, the bus was able to get into the shop, but the news wasn't that great.  We weren't going to have any air conditioning for the rest of the trip, and with the creative engineering that the mechanic was doing to fix us up for the least amount of money, we weren't able to get back on the road until 4:30pm.  Let me tell you, there is only so long that a truckstop will entertain a troop of scouts.

However, once we hit the road we made good time.  We had supper at the Powder River Rest Area and learned that his area is one of the world's largest oil reserves.

After saying grace we all made "slick meat" sandwiches and were back on the road.  Tip: don't drink the water at this rest area...it's nasty!!!

We eventually made it to Dana's house about 2am on Wednesday, but that is another day.

And now for the summary of Day 3, here's Larry.
