Day 9 - Hike Day 5 - Lake Plateau to Horseshoe Lake

Today we woke early, ate breakfast, broke camp, and hit the trail for Horseshoe Lake.  The trip would be relatively easy with ups and downs but ending at the same elevation as our base camp at 9,600 feet.

John & Urvish take down their tent.

"Are you sure you can't fit anymore in that pack, Tim?"

Lucas looks ready for the trail.

Wyatt & Tommy strap the last few items onto the pack.

Eli is ready to go!

Don't forget your hiking staffs!

Our hike takes us along the Rainbow Creek Trail to the "Lake Plateau" sign,
then west on the Upsidedown Trail to Horseshoe Lake.

Look out bears....here comes Troop 3!!!

Where did all this snow come from?
Who is suppose to plow these trails up here?

More river crossings, but this time we have a foot bridge in a fallen tree.

Aaron, Wyatt & Casey take a well deserved rest break.

As we reached a beautiful vista we decided to take a few pictures.

Here is Aaron & Larry

Finally, we made it to Horseshoe Lake.

Here is how Google Earth see Horseshoe Lake.

Lot's of beautiful views!

After supper the scouts planned a snowball ambush of Tim.  The rouge was that two scouts would go to tell time that Urvish hurt his leg.  Larry would meet Tim on his way and confirm that Urvish hurt his hamstring while playing too rough.  As the plan unfolded Tim bought it hook, line, and sinker!  The video picks up as Tim approaches Urvish, unknowing that he is walking into a trap!  Tim asks Urvish what happened, and Urvish looks up with a grin on his face and a snowball in his hand.  Tim becoming frustrated with the fake injury tells Urvish to get up and follow him, and that is when the ambush begins!!!

Thankfully, Tim was a very good sport!!!

.After the snowball fight Tim & Trent enjoy a roaring fire.

Our final campfire in the mountains.

And as expected, here is Larry's Daily Update.
